"Miss Quincy isn't just another pretty face with a guitar. Did I mention she can sing? Her voice is a welcome change from the overproduced, synthesized female drones filling commercial airwaves these days. It has character and bite, like a good cigar." - SE Calgary News
Miss Quincy comes alive on stage through her stories, her music and the characters she picks up along the way. She naturally captivates her audience so that you can easily imagine her wild west wrangling, saloon brawling or midnight serenading. Equal parts edgy frontier woman and risque saloon madame, her mystique lays within the character created through her music and the carnival weaved throughout the show. She never fails to delight, surprise and above all entertain her audiences. Influenced by the renegade women who came before, Miss Quincy draws inspiration from the blues ladies of the 1930s, boot stompin' bluegrass and a healthy dose of vaudeville.
"...actually captures a vibe and a mood, a moment in time that could not be captured…And I love it.”
–Craig Norris, CBC Radio 3

Sideshow [side.show]- A diversion or spectacle that is incidental to a larger set of circumstances or a bigger issue of concern.
The Miss Quincy Sideshow is indeed a spectacle with the bigger issue of concern being music, inspiration and spreading it throughout the land. Miss Quincy is joined by an eclectic cast with diverse musical backgrounds to bring forth a circus-full of song, dance and pure entertainment. Their music is steeped in the age old traditions of blues, gypsy soul and bluegrass, but their approach is a new and different vaudeville. Be prepared to hear angelic harmonies and wailing vocals, fearless improvisation and a plethora of instruments, and of course, as any self respecting sideshow is bound to have; tap dancing percussion. The Sideshow has shared stages with leaders of the Canadian music scene such as CR Avery, Coco Love Alcorn, Little Miss Higgins and the Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra, and they certainly have no plan of stopping or slowing down. Nurtured in their small Canadian mountain town of Nelson, BC, the Miss Quincy Sideshow, in true gypsy style, have wreaked havoc during multiple Canadian tours and are now taking to the open road for good. The Miss Quincy sideshow persists with determination, serious musical taste and talent and a desire to live the gypsy dream forever. Check out www.missquincy.net to see when the sideshow will be gracing your town.

Growing up Jody Anne heard music in bubbling creeks, the wind whistling through narrow valleys and the crackling of the northern lights. She learned from a young age that any campfire was improved by a good story. Influenced by her Grandparents whose toe tappin' tunes kept the North two steppin' to renditions of Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson, her grandfather taught her early on that a cowboy's life is indeed the most poetic life. Jody Anne listened to every country tape in her parent's truck until she could sing along with the likes of Ian Tyson and The Judds.
By her early teens it was evident that singing was her passion, but it took years of classical music lessons to take the country twang from her voice. In college she studied classical voice and then performance arts and musical theatre - neither of which were a perfect match. It wasn't until Jody Anne sat down and wrote her first cowboy song that she realized what had been missing in her music. It was the story, writing and singing about what she knew. Accompanied by her guitar, she started collecting and recording stories as she travelled around the globe in her early 20's. When she finally decided to settle down in Nelson BC, the band Miss Quincy & the Ramblers was formed –mixing sweet harmonies, roots music and good old fashioned story telling. Traveling with the Ramblers opened up many doors for Jody Anne such as playing some of Western Canada’s prominent music festivals, been featured on CBC radio, as well as sharing stages with artists such as CR Avery, Little Miss Higgins and Coco Love Alcorn to name a few.
However, it wasn’t until Jody Anne found the magic mix of music and theatre, past and present that her music has matured into something special and unique. It all happened during a fateful Western Canada tour where Miss Quincy and the Ramblers evolved into The Miss Quincy Sideshow. They stirred up audiences and became personally involved with Jack Daniels, and Miss Quincy emerged as a whole new act. It was then and there that Jody Anne decided to take to the road and live the gypsy dream forever. She now splits her time between performing solo as Miss Quincy and with the hilarious collective known as The Miss Quincy Sideshow. She also spends time in her wilderness cabin creating new and exciting adventures for her original acts. Through the character of Miss Quincy, Jody Anne is taking music and performance to a new level where history melds with the present and the music she creates is a constant source of inspiration for herself, her fellow music makers and the towns she blow through.
